Committees
The success of ASWB greatly depends on the volunteers who serve on our committees and task forces.
With the exception of the Examination Committee, which is composed of former item writers, committee members are volunteers who serve on social work regulatory boards or are regulatory board staff. These individuals donate their time to ASWB in addition to their existing board responsibilities. Attendance at Leadership Weekend is a required component of committee service.
Elected leadership
Members of the Board of Directors and the Nominating Committee are elected by the delegates from ASWB member boards at the Annual Meeting of the Delegate Assembly.

Volunteer Handbook

Joining a committee
Most committee members are appointed by the president and approved by the Board of Directors at its first meeting of the calendar year. Anyone who serves on an ASWB member board or is staff to an ASWB member board is eligible to serve on a committee.
Examination Committee
The Examination Committee is appointed from a select group of licensed social workers who write questions for the examinations.
Committee interest form
Please review committee information and time commitment before completing the interest form. The term is one year. It is important for committee members to complete the year-end committee service assessment to provide feedback and express interest in reappointment should committee work require additional terms. Committees are appointed in January each year. For consideration for the upcoming year, interest forms must be received by November 14.
