Please give a brief biography, including your education, licensure or certification level and employment history:

I am Kimberly Jackson, a dedicated expert in Behavioral Health with over a decade of experience. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Human Services (Family and Marriage Counseling) from Hampton and Liberty University. As a Qualified Mental Health Professional and a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor Supervisee, I am committed to providing quality care. My career began as a Service Coordinator for a private behavioral health provider, where I quickly advanced to Program Director due to my success in curbing revenue loss and developing effective strategies. I founded United Community Solutions LLC, where I focus on addressing the unique needs of individuals in behavioral health treatment. I also partnered with Montero Medical Missions to improve mental health care access for uninsured individuals, earning recognition from local leaders. I serve on various boards, including the state Board of Social Work, and the Virginia Association of Community-Based Providers. My commitment to community health is exemplified by my work on the Asuba Water Project in Ghana, which provided clean water to a local school, addressing critical health issues.

Give a synopsis of your regulatory and professional experience. Please emphasize your involvement with ASWB:

I have extensive regulatory and professional experience in the field of Behavioral Health, with a strong emphasis on compliance and advocacy. My journey includes serving on the state Board of Social Work, where I actively contribute to the development and implementation of policies that govern social work practice. This role has allowed me to engage with various stakeholders to ensure that ethical standards and regulatory requirements are upheld, ultimately enhancing the quality of care provided to individuals in need. My involvement with the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) has been particularly significant. I have participated in initiatives aimed at improving licensure processes and promoting best practices across the profession. Through ASWB, I have collaborated with other professionals to address challenges in the field, advocate for effective regulatory frameworks, and support the ongoing education and training of social workers. Additionally, my experience as a Qualified Mental Health Professional and a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor Supervisee has equipped me with a comprehensive understanding of the regulatory landscape.

Finally, make a brief statement on the major issues you see facing ASWB, and how you would address them:

As I prepare for my role with the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB), I recognize key issues from a traditional perspective, including the need for regulatory consistency, the maintenance of ethical standards, and alignment with foundational values. To ensure regulatory consistency, I would advocate for clear and uniform licensure processes across states, reducing bureaucratic hurdles for qualified professionals. This approach promotes high standards and accountability. Upholding ethical standards is essential, and I would emphasize the importance of traditional values in social work, promoting a framework that respects individual rights and encourages personal accountability. Finally, I would foster a culture of respect for diverse viewpoints while ensuring that social work practices remain grounded in ethical principles. By addressing these issues, I aim to support ASWB’s mission of effective regulation and high-quality social work practice aligned with traditional values.
