Regulatory Research Task Force pivots to support ASWB’s publication of exam data

The Regulatory Research Task Force was appointed in 2022 and charged with developing ongoing charges to create a Regulatory Research Committee. Following the response from the broader social work community to ASWB’s publication of exam demographic data, the task force pivoted to support the organization by beginning development of a research agenda and framework to be presented to the ASWB Board of Directors.

As a first step, the Regulatory Research Task Force developed a statement of intent regarding research initiatives for the immediate future, including the planned release of a request for proposals in first quarter of 2023 to continue the research into the exam data.

As stated in Beyond data: A call to action:

ASWB is committed to looking behind the numbers and taking a deeper dive into the questions raised by the data. This exploration will help the profession better understand the factors affecting success in demonstrating competency. The association shared descriptive data, knowing that it was only a first step. There is now an opportunity to learn more, and we plan to lead those efforts in collaboration with social work researchers and educators similarly committed to informed, substantive change.
