New Brunswick Association of Social Workers
Term ends: June 2028
Please give a brief biography, including your education, licensure or certification level and employment history:
I am a Registered Social Worker (RSW) with the New Brunswick Association of Social Workers and bring 39 years of experience in the fields of mental health and addictions, including more than 25 years in leadership and executive management roles. I hold a Bachelor of Social Services and a Master’s in Health Services Management, both from the Université de Moncton. Throughout my career with the Vitalité Health Network, I progressed from frontline clinical practice to senior executive leadership, most recently serving as Senior Regional Director for Child and Youth Addiction and Mental Health Services. My experience includes clinical practice, program development, strategic planning, organizational change, and the management of multidisciplinary teams and complex healthcare services.
Since 2001, I have contributed to suicide intervention training as a LivingWorks ASIST Trainer, and since 2023, I have supported the development of new trainers as a LW ASIST T4T Coach. I am deeply committed to suicide intervention, prevention, and the development of suicide-safer communities.
Give a synopsis of your regulatory and professional experience. Please emphasize your involvement with ASWB:
My regulatory experience has been developed through extensive involvement with the New Brunswick Association of Social Workers (NBASW) and the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB). I currently serve as Chair of the NBASW Board of Directors, following previous service as Vice-Chair, Restigouche Chapter Director, and member of the Examiners Committee. I actively contribute to provincial and national initiatives related to social work ethics, regulation, leadership, and clinical best practices.
Through ASWB, I have participated in the Delegate Assembly in 2023, 2024, and 2025, completed New Board Member Training in 2024, attended Education Meetings in 2024 and 2026, and served on the Bachelor’s Standard Setting Panel in January 2026. I currently serve on ASWB’s Regulatory Education and Leadership Committee (2026-2027). In addition, I contribute as a subject matter expert in the review and verification of French-language translations for all documentation related to ASWB’s new social work licensing examinations, helping ensure linguistic accuracy, consistency, and accessibility for francophone candidates.
Finally, make a brief statement on the major issues you see facing ASWB, and how you would address them:
I firmly believe that strong, purposeful regulation is fundamental to maintaining public trust in our profession. Effective regulation helps ensure accountability, promotes high standards of practice, protects the public, and supports the continued growth and credibility of social work. One of the most significant issues facing ASWB is the diversity of regulatory requirements and licensure standards across states, territories, and provinces. While these differences reflect unique legislative and practice environments, they can also create challenges related to professional mobility, regulatory consistency, and public understanding of qualifications. I believe ASWB can continue to support regulators by fostering collaboration, sharing best practices, and pursuing initiatives that strengthen consistency while respecting jurisdictional differences. As a member of the Nominating Committee, I would support the identification of candidates who bring diverse perspectives, regulatory expertise, and a strong commitment to public protection and effective governance.
