Since that time I have been the Chair of the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Justice Committee for 2025 and 2026. Additionally, I have attended Delegate Assembly (2024), Education Meetings (2025 and 2026) and Leadership Meetings (2025 and 2026).
Finally, make a brief statement on the major issues you see facing ASWB, and how you would address them:
As a nominee for the ASWB Nominating Committee, I have identified recruitment and retention along with sustaining the vitality of ASWB as important issues to address. ASWB’s work is being sustained by the excellent staff members, supported by volunteers, all of whom bring diverse regulatory, educational, and practice based perspectives. Ensuring that we continue to attract and retain individuals with this breadth of experience is essential to fulfilling our mission of protecting the public whom we serve. Recruitment – by engaging social work regulators, educators, and practitioners across jurisdictions, we can identify emerging leaders who reflect the diversity and evolving needs of the profession. As far as retention, I see this as reliant upon an environment where volunteers feel supported, valued, and connected to meaningful work. This is already in place and we can build on it. When we look at processes for sustaining ASWB’s vitality, one example of how the Nominating committee can help is by conducting periodic visioning sessions that support engaging new members as well as aligning the committee’s charges with long term organizational priorities.
