Workforce data now available to social work researchers
The robust workforce dataset collected through the 2024 Social Work Census is now available for use by researchers. ASWB funded and conducted the Census between March 1 and June 30, 2024, to contribute to a better understanding of the social work profession. The workforce dataset comprises responses from 84,775 individuals and encompasses 245 variables. The survey includes questions about education, employment, licensure, and demographics/intersectionality.
This dataset was the basis for the 2024 Social Work Workforce Study Series authored by Dr. Joy Kim of Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey.
A full description of the workforce data and instructions for applying for access to the dataset are available on the Social Work Census website. Application processing may take up to two weeks.
