Request for Proposals
The Association of Social Work Boards has served as the launch platform for social work regulatory research since the 1990s. Topics have included consumer protection, professional continuing education, social work supervision, complaints against licensees, and related areas. Curating research for best practices in regulation is one of three goals in ASWB’s 2019–2021 Strategic Framework.
Regulatory research is the theme of ASWB’s 2020 Education Conference. This annual two-day meeting on topics related to regulation attracts 115–120 social work regulatory board members from the United States and Canada.
Presentation Focus Areas
Conference attendees will increase their knowledge about research that advances best practices in regulation. In addition, research that is needed to support best practices will be identified and the use and application of data/research for decision-making will be explored. Session submissions are being accepted in the following focus areas:
- REGULATORY BOARD decision-making and actions using data and/or research
Examples: Case studies, campaigns, or specific legislative changes where research was used to support a regulatory board action
- PROFESSIONAL LICENSURE RESEARCH
Examples: Regulatory reform, real and perceived barriers to practice, economic implications, exemptions, health care regulatory research (nurses, doctors, physical therapists etc.)
- OTHER RESEARCH that affects regulation
Examples: Competency evaluations, interprofessional CE/education/practice, education issues, and workforce issues such as supervision for licensure
Please submit your proposal by filling out this form, on or before July 8, 2019. ASWB will select presenters from proposals submitted in response to this Request for Proposals and send proposal decisions by July 30, 2019, to all who respond.
