If you are registered to take the social work licensing exam already, you should have received an Authorization to Test, which states when your registration expires. In general, your registration is good for one year after the date you registered.
A note on scheduling: December testing appointments fill up quickly in any year. Because the exams are changing in January 2018, we anticipate that December 2017 testing appointments will be filling up even faster than usual. If you strongly prefer to test with the current content, you should schedule your testing appointment with Pearson VUE as soon as possible to secure a late-2017 testing appointment.
If you registered BEFORE December 31, 2016, your authorization requires you to test in 2017, using the current exam content.
If you registered AFTER January 2, 2017, you may take the exam with the current content if you schedule your test within 2017, or you may take the exam with the 2018 content if you schedule your test after January 1, 2018. Check your Authorization to Test Expiration Date.
If you have not registered with ASWB to take the exam and would prefer to test with the current content, you should register as soon as your board approves you to take the exam and schedule your testing appointment before December 31, 2017.
