About the Registry:
The Social Work Registry provides a repository for
social workers' credential information while serving
as a verification source for social work licensing
boards.
The Registry lets you establish a permanent file
containing primary source records important to your
social work career. At your request, this information
can be transmitted to any regulatory board to which
you may apply for licensure.
How it works:
Your record will contain copies of your detailed
application materials, as well as original copies
of your education transcripts, your social work examination
scores,
and verification of any clinical supervision you have
received. In addition, when a summary of your record
is prepared for a licensing board, ASWB will check
your identifying information against the ASWB's Disciplinary
Action Reporting System (DARS) databank and provide
that information to the board as well.
The Registry will verify the following categories
of information:
- Identity
- Education
- Social work examination results
- Licensing history
- Clinical supervision (if applicable)
- Disciplinary actions reported to DARS
In addition, the registry will store the following
unverified information provided by you:
- Continuing education courses completed
- References
- Employment history
- Other professional
credentials (ACSW, BCD, QCSW, etc.)
Fees:
Verification fees are due before
we process your registry application. The annual maintenance/renewal
fee will be due one year after your application is
verified. All verification fees include one report
during the first year and the annual maintenance/renewal
fee includes one report per year. Note that the
verification fees below are valid as of January 1,
2005.

ASWB offers services to social workers affected
by hurricanes Katrina and Rita
Beginning immediately, ASWB will provide free membership
in the Social Work Registry for any social worker
affected by hurricanes Katrina and Rita. The ASWB
Social Work Registry functions as a repository for
documents related to licensure (transcripts, supervision
documents, examination data, etc.). Once social workers
become part of the Registry, these documents are held
in perpetuity and confirmation information can be
forwarded to jurisdictions to which they have applied
for licensure. The Registry can help speed up the
licensure process and provides a safe place to store
crucial, career-related documents.
As members of the Registry, these social workers will
be able to acquire relevant documents (transcripts,
licensure verification, etc.) without any of the fees
usually attached. Even if affected social workers
choose not to participate in the Registry, ASWB is
waiving all score transfer fees for them.
All social workers affected by hurricanes Katrina
and Rita will be provided with free membership in
the ASWB Social Work Registry upon request. Interested
social workers can download
an application or email registry
staff, who will provide them with information
on the service, and assist them in getting the process
started.
