ASWB Award Program
Each year, the association of Social Work Boards
(ASWB) publicly acknowledges the accomplishments and
service of members of social work regulatory boards
and staff of regulatory boards. Up to two individuals
will receive the Sunny Anderws Award for service as
regulatory board members. Up to two individuals will
receive the Board Administrators Award.

Sunny Andrews Award
The Sunny Andrews Award, named in honor
of the former association president, is for volunteer
members of social work regulatory boards for contributions
to their individual boards. Up to two people each
year may receive it. In 2002, the inaugural year,
the personalized awards went to Evelyn Seaton
of Oklahoma and Jane Anker of South Carolina.
In 2003, the people recognized were Mary Burke
of Maryland and Doug Knight of Wisconsin. In
2004, Dan Wheelan of Rhode Island was recognized.
Winners in 2005 were Patrick Wolberd of Montana
and Taylor Aultman of Louisiana. David Neal
of Michigan received the Sunny Andrews Award for 2006, and Jonathan Ball of New York was honored in 2007.
Recipients of the Sunny Andrews Award may be nominated
by any member or staff member of an ASWB member board,
a member of the ASWB Board of Directors, or a member
of the ASWB staff. Awards will be presented each year
at the Annual Meeting. All information sent in support
of any nomination for the awards will be kept confidential.
Nominees should have demonstrated extraordinary commitment
to board service in one or more of the following areas:
- Promoting the ethical, responsible and effective
functioning of an ASWB member board
- Enforcing the ethical performance of an ASWB member
board
- Giving selflessly of personal time and effort
to support the work of an ASWB member board
The ASWB Board of Directors will review all nominations
for awards and make a selection based on who, in its
judgment, best meets the award criteria.

Board Administrator Award
The Board Administrator Award is presented to up
to two staff members of boards for contributions to
their individual boards. Elizabeth Buys of
Oregon received the first award in 2002, and Alison
MacDonald of Alberta and Suzanne Pevey
of Louisiana were honored in 2003. In 2004, Suzanne
McKenna of New Brunswick was selected for the
award. Emily Efferson of Louisiana and Vanessa
Beauchamp of Missouri were honored in 2005. Ben
Foster of Virginia received the award in 2006. Troylene Jones of Arkansas and Debra Rinaudo of Arizona were selected in 2007.
Recipients of the Board Administrator Award may be
nominated by any member or staff member of an ASWB
member regulatory board, a member of the ASWB Board
of Directors, or a member of the ASWB staff. Awards
will be presented each year at the Annual Meeting.

- Promoting the ethical, responsible, and effective
functioning of an ASWB member board
- Facilitating a fair, efficient and responsible
process for legal regulation in a member jurisdiction

regulation
